Guide on how to stream Sony’s CES 2024 press conference
The highly anticipated annual Consumer Technology Association (CES) trade show is just around the corner, transforming Las Vegas into a captivating hub of cutting-edge technology. Sony has scheduled a press conference on January 8 at 8PM EST, a day before the CES 2024 exhibitions commence. For those unable to attend in person, the event can be streamed live through Sony Square or the company’s YouTube channel.
What are we waiting for
Sony is particularly cautious about what it has in store, saying it will “introduce a variety of technologies and initiatives that support content creators.” The company’s official press release also says that Sony aims to “fill the world with emotions through creativity and technology.”
Sony’s website featured a tantalizing image that seemed to suggest the press would focus on technology that includes film production, professional audio and VR. Those three together could surely fill the world with emotions. The original teaser image featured the Ghostbusters logo, a man singing into a microphone, and a film crew. However, Sony replaced this image with a simple visual showing a series of nondescript circles.
While we don’t know what Sony is focusing on, we do have some ideas about what the company is likely to avoid. Last year, Sony didn’t mention TVs at all, saving it for the March event. It’s possible we’ll get something PlayStation-related, but with the recently released PS5 Slim and confusing PlayStation Portal, don’t hold your breath.
However, we can get some game announcements for PSVR2. Sony revealed the VR Gran Turismo 7 update at last year’s press conference. It’s also possible that Sony will announce some home theater products to go along with the whole “creativity and technology” thing.
Sony wants to use CES to reveal experimental technology that may or may not see an actual release. Last year we got the Afeela EV concept vehicle, a partnership with Honda, so who knows what wacky technology will take center stage this year. Sony also introduced a truly innovative set of PS5 controllers to help disabled gamers at the 2023 event.
We report live from the CES 2024 event in Las Vegas from the 6th to the 12th. January. Stay up to date with all the latest news from the show here.
